Mitgliedshochschule Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences

Profile

The Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences is one of the particularly strong research universities for applied sciences in Bavaria. With above-average third-party funding and first-class infrastructure in more than 40 laboratories and institutes, Aschaffenburg UAS is an engine for application-oriented research and transfer in the Bavarian Lower Main region.

In the four main areas of Intelligent Systems, Materials, Information & Innovation Management and Business & Law, mainly interdisciplinary teams conduct research on practical scientific challenges. The focus of all research activities is the targeted transfer of technology and knowledge. Through the high level of application orientation and the close exchange with industry and business, including the   university's own research institution ZeWiS, Aschaffenburg UAS offers doctoral students excellent conditions for a successful cooperative doctorate with first-class perspectives on the job market. Thanks to the applied research, doctoral students experience intensive contact with potential employers and expand their personal networks.

In the iDok doctoral college, doctoral students receive personal, professional and organizational support. Starting with the search for a suitable cooperating university and the financing of the doctoral project up to the publication of the dissertation, the iDok accompanies the doctoral candidates. In addition to engineering and business knowledge, the iDok also focuses on teaching interdisciplinary skills such as rhetoric and project management. Networking is a core element of the iDok paving the way for career building.

Within the consortial joint doctorate between Aschaffenburg UAS, the BayWISS as well as a Bavarian university, doctoral students have access to a wide range of support options. Scientists of Aschaffenburg UAS are involved in the BayWISS joint academic partnerships Production Technology, Resource Efficiency and Materials, Economics as well as Digitalisation.

In the field of teaching, Aschaffenburg UAS stands out for its application-oriented, interdisciplinary and innovative courses of study. In 2020, Aschaffenburg UAS celebrated its 25th anniversary. Since its founding, the University of Applied Sciences has grown considerably and now teaches around 3,400 students in Aschaffenburg. Aschaffenburg UAS has become a permanent and strong UAS in the Bavarian higher education landscape.
